Recruiting Organization: Oregon Health Authority AmeriCorps VISTA Partnership Project
Join Oregon Primary Care Association(OPCA) in transforming the health landscape by addressing the social needs present in communities served by Oregon’s Federally Qualified Health Centers.
The AmeriCorps member will focus on the various social needs that impact the health of Oregonians by:
- Developing a complex understanding of social determinants/drivers of health and the role of screening, referral, and resource access within healthcare models
- Reviewing best practices through reading studies, attending webinars, and conducting interviews
- Combining best practices into a toolkit and/or presentation aimed at healthcare providers and community-based organizations
- Facilitating webinars for learning collaborative of health center representatives
- Coordinating equity efforts with larger OPCA team by attending and sharing findings in health equity committee meetings and other collaborative spaces
- Building partnerships between service organizations holding shared values, to strengthen Community Information
- Exchange (CIE) platform use
- Advance knowledge through trainings on how socioeconomic factors influence the delivery of healthcare and the well being of communities.
This position joins the Oregon Health Authority’s (OHA) statewide AmeriCorps VISTA team. In addition to activities at your individual site, each member receives additional orientation, training throughout the year, team retreats and meetings, and the support of the team leaders and project director based at OHA. Oregon Primary Care Association (OPCA) isa nonprofit statewide membership association of Oregon’s community health centers, also known as federally qualified health centers (FQHCs), and those who support them. Our mission is to lead the transformation of primary care to achieve health equity for all.
OPCA provides training and support to FQHCs by partnering with them to advance the goals of health system transformation. FQHCs provide-dental, and behavioral health care work that involves helping providers better understand the circumstances of their lives and address the social determinants of health as a major driver of health equity. Together with Oregon FQHCs, we work to understand and help address the social determinants of health with creative solutions and community partnerships.
