The International Rescue Committee responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover and gain control of their future. In more than 40 countries and 29 U.S. cities, our dedicated teams provide clean water, shelter, health care, education and empowerment support to refugees and displaced people.
The New Roots program helps refugees reestablish their ties to the land, celebrate their heritage and nourish themselves and their neighbors by planting strong roots in Sacramento. We work to increase refugee access to and participation in the local food system through agricultural training, food access and security programming, community farming, and business development training. The New Roots program at the International Rescue Committee in Sacramento is currently accepting applications for the following internship and volunteer positions:

- Mowing grass and weeds to keep the farm and gardens clear of tall weeds.
- Performing basic maintenance on the young fruit-tree orchard (adding amendments, managing irrigation, mulching, protecting from frost, etc.)
