Wilder Center welcomes many visitors each day in our bustling event center. Wilder Center offers small-to-large capacity conference auditorium and meeting room rentals for nonprofit, government agency or corporate events.

We are seeking on-call volunteers to provide support at least once per month with setup and take down of chairs and tables in our large auditorium space. This is a physical role requiring the ability to lift chairs, push chair movers, or roll out tables following the desired configuration. Your support is critical to help us improve effectiveness and minimize time taken to set up during our busy event season!

Responsibilities:

• Respond to staff emails on a monthly basis to confirm if you are available for upcoming shift(s)
• Attend training to learn proper techniques for moving and setting tables and chairs
• Work alongside your supervisor to complete onsite physical tasks setting up, disassembling or moving chairs and tables
• Support additional setup or cleanup tasks if available

Qualifications:

• Be 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to interact with and assist people of varying backgrounds, cultures and identities, including race, ethnicity, class, sexual orientation, ability, gender, gender expression, religion, etc.
• Be able to physically stand for the duration of a 1 to 3-hour shift with limited breaks.
• Preferred: Be able to push up to 200 pounds and lift up to 50 pounds (in collaboration with staff leads onsite). The focus of the role will be on table & chair setup, so this is only an occasional aspect needed.
• Strong attention to detail.

Schedule and Location:

• Total time requirement: Minimum 3-month commitment to being on the on-call list. Volunteers commit to a minimum of one shift per month. You can commit to morning, afternoon and/or evening time frames.
• Shift timing options: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday between 7:30am-9pm
  • Your volunteer supervisors will reach out via email to ask if you are available for specific upcoming events; you can opt in or out.
