APL Title

The Austin Public Library is seeking 2 individuals to serve as facilitators for our Practiquemos Español programs. We are looking to fill an openings:

Thursdays from 2:30-4:30pm at the Milwood Branch.

Practiquemos Español is not a Spanish class, but rather a place to fine-tune your Spanish in a relaxed environment. Volunteers facilitate conversation to help and encourage participants to speak Spanish in a safe, non-threatening and relaxed environment. Volunteers should have the following skills:

  • Patience and a willingness to listen
  • Comfortable leading small groups in conversation
  • Sensitivity to potential differences in cultures
  • Mastery of the Spanish language
  • Ability to promote communication among groups
  • Be 18 years and older
  • Volunteers must be able to facilitate every other week (weekly preferred) for a minimum of 5 months
