ORGANIZATION: VANTAGE Aging RSVP

Basic volunteer duties involved with this assignment:

  1. Prepare a meal for an average of 42 students and 4 staff members at-home or in their kitchen at a station
  2. Deliver the meal to the station, if made off-site
  3. Serve the food, if desired, or simply leave the food to be served by students/staff

Basic volunteer qualifications involved with this assignment:

Positive background check, patience, compassion, comfort with limited use of computers, and experience working with youth

Who will be served by this assignment?

Middle and high school students and their respective parents

What is the anticipated benefit of this volunteer service to those receiving the service?

Students will benefit of a warm dinner, and leftovers are sent home for those family members in need

What specific skills will the volunteer need?

Comfort with cooking and transporting large meals

Description

VANTAGE Aging promotes positive aging through a variety of programs and services for older adults. Our nonprofit organization serves 38 counties and is headquartered in Akron, Ohio. In Summit and Medina Counties, we facilitate the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) for those 55 and older who want to make a meaningful impact in the community. We also offer employment training, home care and home health aide assistance, nutrition and home-delivered meal services, alcohol and drug addiction counseling, and mental health and prevention services.
