About the Role

Are you passionate about creating inclusive spaces that foster learning, dialogue, and connection? The Ubuntu Lab invites you to be part of our innovative museum venture dedicated to nurturing a deeper understanding of humanity's complexities. By integrating digital museums, community centers, and cafe culture, we strive to cultivate a global network and conversation of learning and empathy, with a vision to establish 100 labs in 100 cities worldwide within the next decade.

Our first decade was focused on building networks, testing methodologies, and codifying concepts. Now, we stand poised to leverage all of that success to bring our model to the world. To support this we are growing our team, and we are looking for a volunteer to assist with content and programming to help us build this next phase.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate closely with our team to brainstorm, develop, and implement engaging and educational content and programs.

  • Assist in researching and curating social media content related to humanity's complexities, diversity, and cultural understanding.

  • Help plan and organize events, workshops, and exhibitions that promote dialogue, exploration, and connection.

  • Support the creation of digital content, including videos, podcasts, and interactive experiences.

  • Contribute to evaluating and documenting the impact of programming initiatives to enhance future content and program development.

Qualifications
  • Creative mindset and a passion for exploring and presenting diverse perspectives on complex topics.

  • Strong writing and storytelling abilities, with attention to detail and clarity.

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently to meet project deadlines.

  • Familiarity with digital content creation tools and platforms is advantageous.

  • Previous experience in content creation, event planning, or program development is a plus.

Mission Statement

The Ubuntu Lab Is Reimagining How We Learn About Humanity. We help people across the globe live and work together in a diverse, interdependent world by designing and hosting engaging learning experiences that help people better understand themselves, others, and the society they share. We believe that when we understand others we can build a world that is just, peaceful, and prosperous.

Description

We are creating a new category of pubic institution: part museum, part design studio, part retail cafe, to engage the public in better, more authentic conversation about current events. Our secret sauce is a curriculum that helps people build the basic skills, knowledge and mindset needed to understand people. After 5 years of experimentation, research, and a handful small scale projects, 2018 is set to be the year we accelerate, hosting our first public programs, launching an academy to serve as a test bed for the programing for the coming neighborhood hub, a book from our founder is in the works, and a push for a full scale space.
