Myeloma Canada

Myeloma Canada is a patient-focused, patient-driven, not-for-profit corporation dedicated to improving the lives of all Canadians impacted by myeloma. We are committed to advancing the understanding, management and treatment of this incurable cancer and to accelerating access to game-changing myeloma therapies and treatments.

Fundraising Advisory Council

The Fundraising Advisory Council is responsible to review, report to and advise the Board of Directors on best practices in fundraising, to recommend to the Board a fundraising strategy related to the charity’s purpose, and to support the charity in its fundraising activities. The Fundraising Advisory Council will help to ensure the long-term viability of Myeloma Canada by supporting the charity to secure diverse and sustainable sources of revenue.

Council Vacancies

Myeloma Canada is currently recruiting new members for its Fundraising Advisory Council. We are looking for candidates with skills or experience in one or more of the following areas:

Corporate Fundraising

  • An individual with experience applying for funding from businesses and large corporations. Ideally, they will have familiarity with corporate funding applications, CSR practices and trends, and fundraising strategies.

Trusts & Foundations

  • An individual who possesses knowledge and experience of applying for trust and foundation grants.

Donor Stewardship

  • An individual who possesses knowledge and experience in donor management and retention.

Major Donors & Legacy Giving

  • An individual with experience in the contact and stewardship of major donors and legacy donors.

What we ask of you

  • Act in the best interests of Myeloma Canada
  • Understand the role and responsibilities of an Advisory Council member
  • Attend quarterly council meetings and arrive prepared for meetings
  • Support council decisions and act as an ambassador in implementing them
  • Respect the confidentiality pertaining to Council discussions

What you bring to us

  • Fundraising experience
  • Active contribution as a team player with a personal network
  • A solutions-oriented mindset and creative thinking approach to issues
  • Time and energy to prepare, attend and contribute at quarterly council meetings
  • Personal commitment to Myeloma Canada’s promise and strategic plan pillars
  • Knowledge of, or interest in, the Canadian cancer eco-system and in the importance of the patient’s involvement in myeloma care

Meetings & Time Commitment

Number of meetings

Council members are expected to attend the quarterly Council meetings (4 per year). These meetings are all held virtually.
