Are you interested in working with refugees? The HIAS Refugee Resettlement Program with Jewish Family Services has a unique opportunity to work as a Cultural Orientation Volunteer where you can help new Mainers acclimate to their new homes. This opportunity will place you directly with a refugee family to cover topics such as US law, hygiene, housing and more! You’ll establish a unique relationship with this family as you help them adjust to living in Maine. Below are some upcoming training opportunities: * 2/6 from 4-5PM: Virtual Training via Zoom ( REGISTER HERE) * 2/8 from 4-5PM: In-Person at HIAS Auburn Office (106 Pleasant St, Auburn) Volunteers can contact SMAA Volunteer Services for more information at volunteer@smaaa.org or 207-396-6595.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR COMMUNITY!

Southern Maine Agency on Aging Volunteer Services provides opportunities to make a difference in the community through volunteer service. Volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through schools, meals on wheels, hospitals and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. We offer maximum flexibility and choice to our volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of the over age 55 volunteer to opportunities in selected imapct service areas to help solve community problems. RSVP volunteers receive supplemental insurance while on duty, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where they are placed.
