We are looking for high energy creatives to join our team! Excellent opportunity to learn administrative and organizational skills! Volunteers will also join us on fun Field Trips and Water Days throughout the summer! Community work also looks great on college applications!

Discover Camp Garland is looking for volunteers who enjoy working with children in Recreation and Classroom environments. Position will work primarily between the hours of 11 to 4 Monday through Thursday! Instructors will be leading our in person summer camp activities!

VOLUNTEER SUMMER CAMP LEADERS

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow schedule of daily camp activities, ability to improvise sudden itinerary changes.
  • Administers daily behavioral interventions as needed.
  • Supervises and/or participate in all camp activities
  • Promotes camp participant safety at all times
  • Whatever is necessary to maintain a clean and safe facility
  • Assists Summer Program Counselors in arts and crafts, games, and activity equipment.
  • May perform other assignments and handle special projects as required.
  • Regular and timely attendance is required, as well as, the ability to get along with others in a professional and cordial manner.
  • Working knowledge of recreational games, crafts and activities.
  • Working ability to supervise children of varying age levels in a group setting.
  • Ability to communicate well with the public, especially when interacting with children.
  • Ability to complete duties and work assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to actively participate in games.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizations.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.


WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in sports group, summer camp, day care, church camp, public recreation, and/or outdoor activities is preferred.

Must bring high energy and smiling face to camp every single day!

Must be able to work Monday - Friday , June 3 - August 9

25 hours per week

Must submit to and pass a post-offer, non-regulated drug test and thorough background checks (including criminal history).

Discover Camp Garland was created with expertise from over 30 years of experience in a municipality recreation!

The goal for our programs are to provide campers a unique experience than what other camps may provide. Campers will enjoy a safe and comfortable play environment where participants will enjoy games and active activities, arts and music, field-trips, mentorship programs and more.
