WesleyLife Hospice volunteers are invaluable to our team! Whether you want to work directly with patients and their families or prefer to work behind the scenes we have opportunities for you. Our opportunities do vary depending on the needs of our hospice clients and their families.
All volunteers are required to complete an application and a background check. Training will be provided for your role.
Our top needs right now include but are not limited to:
1 - Companion Volunteers: Spend time one-on-one with our hospice clients. This can be as simple as holding their hand, visiting, playing a game, reading, or being a calming presence.
2 - Veteran Volunteers: We are seeking retired and active military men and women to provide companionship to our hospice clients who are veterans. We are also seeking these individuals to help with honoring our veteran clients during a veteran pinning ceremony.
3- Respite Volunteers: Provide companionship to hospice clients and relieving the caregiver for some much needed respite. Typically visits are a couple of hours at a time. Visits may be weekly for errand running or occasional for an appointment. No hands on personal cares will be provided by the volunteer.
If you are interested in volunteering contact Diana Ferriss, Volunteer Coordinator at dferriss@wesleylife.org or 515.229.7366. You can also fill out an application: http://bttr.im/m837f
