Do you speak another language? The Dispute Resolution Center of Montgomery County (DRC-MC) provides mediation services Many of our clients do not speak English as their first language. They often ask for Spanish speakers to assist in the mediation process.
What is mediation? Mediation is an alternative approach to resolving disputes. Mediaton brings the parties toghether with a neutral third party, a trained mediator, who listens to both sides and helps them work toward a mutally agreeable solution, if possible. Mediation allows the persons involved in teh dispute to take active roles in settling their problem. Each side is given the opportunity to express their feelings, explore the facts and discuss possible solutions.
Where would you fit it? We have trained volunteer mediatiors. Some of them speak Spanish, but not many. You could help the mediator traslate/ interpret the mediation so the parties understand the process.
We are looking for volunteers that would be willing to come into the office or by zoom. Mediations are scheduled Monday- Friday and run from 8:30 - 12:30 and 1:00 - 5:00.
