About the International Ocean Film Festival

Launched in 2004, IOFF is the leading Bay Area ocean destination event of the year. Taking place at Fort Mason Center in San Francisco, the IOFF is a three-day celebration of the ocean, featuring more than 40 independent films from around the world, visiting filmmakers, special guests, panel discussions and opportunities to engage with Ocean Hero Community Partners throughout the weekend. The film festival strives to engage the next generation of ocean conservationists by offering a Free Student Education Program and an International Student Film Competition for middle school and high schools students. The festival takes place in-person on April 12-14, 2023 in San Francisco at Cowell Theater, Fort Mason Center for Arts and Culture.


Overview:

The Climate Week Film Screening Manager (FSM) is responsible for assisting and managing event planning for the upcoming SF Climate Week Special Screening one day in April, currently April 23rd. End date of May 1st, 2024. Working closely with IOFF Staff the FSM will be an integral part to help bring the event to fruition on time and within budget. Start day no later than February 15th.


Film Screening Manager Responsibilities:

  • Discussing and confirming all event details, including the number of guests, floor layouts, venue, color schemes, food, and decor with the clients.
  • Visiting venues, sampling food, liaising with caterers, musicians, and other service providers and vendors.
  • Conducting research, which may include sending emails, searching online, and making phone calls to ensure professional service delivery and a memorable event.
  • Ensuring all food, drinks, chairs, tables, and decorations are delivered and set up on time.
  • Managing ticket sales on Eventbrite.
  • Point of contact for the day of the event.
  • Managing volunteers for the day of the event.
  • Notifying clients of any changes or problems as soon as possible.
  • Developing timeframes, checklists, and delegating tasks to the relevant parties.
  • Promoting, managing and posting on social media channels.

Film Screening Manager Requirements:

  • 3-5 years experience in event management.
  • A strong portfolio of previous work.
  • Excellent time management, attention to detail, and communication skills.
  • Superb networking skills, customer service, and negotiation tactics.
  • Strong multitasking abilities and the ability to function under pressure.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and walk/ stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Someone passionate about the ocean and climate change.

The International Ocean Film Festival (IOFF), is the first and largest film festival focused on the ocean in the world.

As a year-round ocean conservation organization the IOFF produces a multipole day in person film and lecture event that promotes awareness around the health of our oceans, and call to actions to protect it. Film programs include award winning independent films of all genres, on stage discussions with filmmakers and content experts, creating a unique public forum on the environmental, social, and cultural importance of the ocean's ecosystems, habitats and its resources. IOFF will be celebrating it's 21st Anniversary on April 13-14, 2024 at Cowell Theater at Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture in San Francisco, CA. With an expected attendance of 3,000 people, the IOFF serves as a beacon of hope and conversation for ocean lovers of all ages.
