Camp HOPE
Time around the Camp Fire

About Camp Hope America-Oklahoma, Tulsa:

Greetings,
Camp Hope is a nationwide movement to help children, ages 6-17, exposed to trauma and abuse find pathways to HOPE and healing. It was started over 10 years ago in Lake Sutherland, California under the passion and visionary leadership of founder, Casey Gwinn.

The vision for Camp Hope America is to break the generational cycle of family violence. We do this by offering a free strengths and character- based summer camp and mentoring model that lasts for six days as an overnight experience as well as providing year-round activities called Pathways. The primary goal of Pathways is to mitigate the impact of trauma on children with high Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE) scores through holistic, hope-centered programming and group mentorship.

Role of Hope Mentor:
Hope Mentors serve as a mentor to Camp Hope America (CHA) participants, A core component of this mentor relationship is guiding CHA participants to discover or clarify their goals and dreams, identify the pathways and steps needed to achieve them, and recognize potential barriers.

HOPE mentors play a critical role in the program as consistent and caring individuals in a young person's life, creating opportunities for growth, trust, and positive examples of healthy relationships. Through mentoring, we can increase school success, enhance self-esteem and confidence, and boost interpersonal skills, and model healthier relationships.
