ORGANIZATION: SELF-CARE LAB BOXING & FITNESS CLUB

A TSCL Boxing Coach/Trainer is responsible for training and mentoring athletes in the sport of boxing and strength and conditioning. A TSCL Boxing Coach/Trainer will design training programs and workouts as well as overseeing athletes' development in the form of skill, fitness and strategy. This role involves creating a safe training and effective environment, analyzing opponents' styles and preparing some athletes for competition. A TSCL Boxing Coach/Trainer also provides motivation, support and guidance to help athletes reach their full potential while emphasizing sportsmanship and discipline. Strong coaching abilities, boxing expertise and a commitment to athlete development are essentials for success for this position.

Coaches/Trainers will teach effective boxing techniques, create training routines and oversee athletes' progress. The trainer will instruct on proper form, footwork and strategy, while also emphasizing on mental health fitness, strength and conditioning. Additionally, they may organizing sparring sessions, analyze opponents' style, provide mental wellness motivation and support to athletes.

Coaching certifications and experience in boxing are suggested but not mandatory.

Description

The Self Care Lab Boxing & Fitness Club (TSCL) has taken a novel approach to providing trauma informed care on a community level using a combination of
boxing and non-boxing exercises, self-care advocacy, mentorship, and mental health counseling. TSCL’s mission is to teach practical self-
care to the residents and youth of the greater Los Angeles community through the combination of disciplined exercise and cognitive learning teaching models. Through intentional relationship building, TSCL inspires deep personal growth within its members. TSCL uses a culturally competent
approach to address challenges associated with access to mental healthcare for marginalized and vulnerable communities while providing an affordable outlet for individuals and families seeking safe, healthy, and restorative mental health support.
