Be an advocate for solutions to hunger & housing insecurity in New Hampshire
ORGANIZATION: RESULTS

In 2021, in the midst of a global pandemic and economic crisis, RESULTS advocates were part of an historic effort that cut US child poverty in half. By raising our voices, we ensured that our leaders heard the needs of our communities. For decades before this, we’ve mobilized against cuts to vital anti-poverty programs and ensured programs like SNAP, housing assistance, and tax credits that support families facing financial uncertainty are available when people need them.
We invite you to be part of our community of change this year and help continue to make a difference in New Hampshire.
What You’ll Do as an Advocate
With just 4-6 hours per month as a RESULTS volunteer advocate you will:
- Take effective advocacy actions with other volunteers in your community, such as communicating with members of Congress and their staff, publishing media, and organizing in your community.
- Attend monthly webinars covering policy updates, advocacy training, anti-oppression, as well as other support & tools available for volunteers.
- Become a more effective advocate through self-paced advocacy skills training & action taking.
- Connect with a community of advocates in New Hampshire and across the U.S.
Call for Solutions to Hunger & Housing Instability
Too many families are forced to make hard choices between paying rent and buying food and other necessities. A growing affordable housing crisis only makes this worse. 1 in 6 children in the US lack the food security to grow, learn, and lead active lives. And due to inaction from Congress, after seeing a dramatic reduction in child poverty in 2021, critical support expired, and child poverty nearly doubled again. We must stand with millions in our country facing hunger, housing insecurity, and economic hardship.
As an advocate this year, you will:
- Protect and expand funding for programs that promote health and ensure access to nutritious food.
- Secure resources and financial support for stable, affordable housing.
- Help put money back in people’s pockets by making our tax code work for households with low-incomes and people experiencing poverty.
As we face uncertainty about what will come next in our country, this is when our advocacy matters the most. Help us ensure that our leaders understand the needs of your community and make decisions that secure the rights of nutrition, housing, and financial stability to all.

Mission Statement
RESULTS is a movement of passionate, committed everyday people. Together they use their voices to influence political decisions that will bring an end to poverty. Volunteers receive training, support, and inspiration to become skilled advocates. In time, volunteers learn to effectively advise policy makers, guiding them towards decisions that improve access to education, health, and economic opportunity. With every hour of their time, volunteers multiply their impact through the enormous power of advocacy -- whether it’s helping change policy to support millions of families putting food on the table or helping raise billions of dollars for the world’s most vulnerable children. Backed by the in-depth research and legislative expertise of staff, RESULTS advocates realize the incredible power they possess to use their voices to change the world.
Description
For over 40 years, RESULTS and RESULTS Educational Fund have been shining light on critical, effective solutions to poverty. By combining the powerful voices of civic advocates with research and oversight of U.S. anti-poverty efforts at home and abroad, RESULTS has been changing government priorities and people’s lives.
"I saw RESULTS on VolunteerMatch, but I wasn’t sure what advocacy was. Before that, I wasn’t really aware of the way different government policies impacted me. But RESULTS gave me a whole new perspective. I learned that if you want change, first you need to see what members of Congress are doing and build connections." - Yaseer Khanani
"I became an advocate because I wanted to be more involved in an organization that strives to make positive change. I really appreciate how genuine and dedicated everyone is to the RESULTS mission." - Sunjay Menon
"At RESULTS, we advocate for the issues that are close to my heart, like global health, education, and poverty eradication. I get to talk about issues that I witness throughout my professional and personal life. I can effect change by raising my voice." - Shabina Hussein
