QCH with tagline

Queen Community House's Friendly Visiting Program matches homebound older adults with volunteers in their community, creating intergenerational relationships. Our wonderful client speaks Greek and prefers a volunteer who does as well. She enjoys reading, watching tv, gardening, and has beautiful needlework she has done throughout her home. She loves telling stories, is very funny and has a great sense of humor. She would love to play board or card games, discuss books, music, art, television, or sports. She also would like assistance with her smartphone. If you are available on Sundays and would be interested in meeting our client, please contact us at volunteer@qchnyc.org.

Friendly visitors must be 18 years old and over, be open to committing to at least 6 months of volunteerism, provide 2 non-familial references and agree to have a background check conducted.

Mission Statement

Queens Community House provides individuals and families with the tools to enrich their lives and build healthy, inclusive communities.

Description

Queens Community House (QCH) is a multi-site, multi-service settlement house that serves the diverse neighborhoods of Queens. We serve residents of all ages, races, faiths, and ethnicities while supporting the viability of the borough as a whole.

QCH was formed in 1975 (as Forest Hills Community House) to help heal the wounds of a neighborhood conflict.
