If you enjoy interacting with young children and families, providing a safe and welcoming environment, and interpreting historical content to children, Early Childhood and K-12 Programs are for you!

Volunteers help history come alive for our youngest guests by assisting staff in the History Clubhouse, passing out crafts, and creating a safe environment for visitors. Duties vary depending upon the event or program but may include setting up events, greeting guests, checking in guests, and/or facilitating a craft or activity.

Be a part of some of our larger biggest and most popular programs, such as Día de los Muertos, MLK Celebration, Winter Getaway, History Exploration Days, Storytelling in the Museum, and Parent & Me.

Mission Statement

MISSION STATEMENT The Missouri Historical Society (MHS) serves as the confluence of historical perspectives and contemporary issues to inspire and engage audiences in the St. Louis region and beyond.

Description

Every day, volunteers at the Missouri Historical Society (MHS) help make the history of the St. Louis region more accessible to the entire community. They are an essential part of MHS’s success and its operation, putting their talents to work at the Missouri History Museum, the Library & Research Center, and Soldiers Memorial Military Museum.

MHS seeks to engage volunteers who will lend their time, passion, and skills to aid staff and programs that support our mission and values and who will serve as ambassadors for MHS in their community. The Missouri Historical Society Volunteer Office is committed to making our collections more accessible to the public, engaging audiences through relevant interpretation, and assisting in the advancement of MHS as a whole. We see the cultivation of volunteers as an activity that directly supports our mission to engage people in the St. Louis region and beyond.
