Social Worker

We are seeking a clinically licensed social worker to volunteer with ILHI to supervise our Educational program.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing support in ensuring that we are setting achievable goals

  • Providing services that benefit clients and the community

  • Determine the correct course of action when helping children in the program

  • Advocating and raising awareness on behalf of ILHI

  • Partnering and collaborating with parents, teachers and school administrators to ensure the safety of the children

  • Empathetic and supportive with mentorship and leadership skills

  • Support in creating a safe and accepting environment for students and their families

Requirements:

  • Licensed as a LCSW in the state of Michigan

  • Proficient in computer skills

  • Volunteer 5 hours per week of time as needed

Description

OUR PROGRAM ILH developed the Todays Youth program to enhance the self-esteem and teach life skills to youth and young adults who are learning-disabled and developmentally challenged. Youth with learning disabilities can lead enriched lives when they are in an environment that builds their self-confidence and skills. The self-esteem workshops and after-school tutorials are designed to help youth build positive self-esteem; identify emotional spirals; understand and apply effective conflict resolution; improve their proficiency in reading, writing, math, science, computer and study skills; and prepare them for reading and MEAP testing.
