San Francisco Students Back On Track

Tutor a K-12 student one-on-one once a week for 2 hours. Tutors are matched carefully with a student after tutors, parents, and students are interviewed; matching is based on school subjects, age, time, and personality.

Back On Track provides training, ongoing workshops, weekly "check-ins," support groups, computers, library, field trips, snacks, help designing academic goals, letters of recommendation, recognition, and most importantly, a chance to make a difference in the life of a youth!

Mission Statement

Back On Track Tutoring is a non-profit volunteer one-on-one tutoring and mentoring program which encourages academic achievement among primary and secondary school students. The program was established in San Francisco's Western Addition by the Third Baptist Church and Congregation Emanu-El to promote cross-cultural understanding and build bridges of opportunity for both communities.

Description

One-on-One after-school tutoring and mentoring, 2 hours a week, Training, workshops, "check-ins" support group; careful matching with a student based on school subjects, needs and personality; computers with Internet access, field trips, (Exploratorium, Marin Headlands bike trip, SF Dance Performances), enrichment activities: art night, storytelling, music night, web page class, snacks, games, etc.
