About Light and Hope Initiative
Light and Hope Initiative is a community-driven nonprofit organization based in Mathare Valley, Nairobi. Our mission is to empower and uplift underserved communities by providing access to quality education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. Through various programs, including our Women Economic Empowerment Program, youth STEM initiatives, and health services, we aim to foster sustainable growth, promote equality, and inspire positive change in the lives of individuals and families.

Role Overview
As a Board Member of Light and Hope Initiative, you will play a vital role in guiding the strategic direction of our organization, ensuring the effective delivery of our programs, and supporting the mission of empowering the community. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of impactful community programs while working with a dedicated team to tackle social issues that affect underserved populations.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Planning: Participate in setting long-term goals and shaping the direction of Light and Hope Initiative.
• Governance: Provide oversight and ensure the organization remains aligned with its mission, values, and legal obligations.
• Fundraising & Resource Development: Assist in identifying potential funding sources, building partnerships, and supporting fundraising initiatives to sustain our programs.
• Program Evaluation: Offer insight and advice on the evaluation and improvement of current programs.
• Community Engagement: Represent the organization in community events and engage with other stakeholders to promote our mission.
• Advisory Role: Provide expertise in areas such as education, healthcare, business development, or technology to guide our initiatives.
