Hispanics are 1.5x more likely than whites to have Alzheimer’s or another dementia. By volunteering with the Alzheimer's Association, you can help us work towards our mission of ending Alzheimer's and all other dementias by driving risk reduction and early detection, maximizing quality care and support, and accelerating global research. Work with us in your local community or virtually!

Key Activities:

  • Represent the Alzheimer's Association at a target community events (in person or virtually) in neighborhoods, rural counties, business and civic organizations or faith communities.
  • Offer 20-minute Introduction to Alzheimer’s presentations for community organizations, congregations, civic organizations, sororities / fraternities, clubs and other locations.
  • Promote support groups, education programs, Alzheimer & Brain Awareness Month, Walk to End Alzheimer’s, or The Longest Day using your local connections, bulletin boards, social media and physical displays in your community.
  • Connect the Alzheimer's Association to new community organizations and connect people with additional Association services and volunteer opportunities

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 to apply. Background checks are required.
  • Bilingual (English & Spanish) encouraged, but not necessary.

Commitment Expected:

  • Hours vary depending on YOUR schedule. We will take any time you're willing to give to the cause.

  • In person (San Francisco/East bay area) or virtual opportunities available.

The Alzheimer's Association will provide training, information and electronic or printed materials to assist in your efforts. Orientation includes several hours of online learning, self-study and shadowing or mentoring by local Alzheimer's Association staff and volunteers. Some materials are available in multiple languages. We provide programs and support services for patients, families, caregivers, and others in the San Francisco Bay Area affected by Alzheimer's disease and related disorders. Outside the federal government, the Alzheimer's Association is the largest research funder in the country and offers advocacy opportunities to make public policy change.
