We are looking for volunteers to offer a supportive presence and socialization for our patients and families. You will make a difference by volunteering along our hospice staff in a variety of opportunities. In our Volunteer Orientation class you will understand some of the challenges that face our patients and families and learn interventions in how you can bring qualities of life and compassionate care to those in need. As an AccentCare hospice volunteer, you will learn about AccentCare philosophy of care, communicating with patients and families, family dynamics, spiritual care and the grief process.
Common activities our volunteers do with our patients include
- Reading to the patient
- Sharing stories
- Singing to the patient
- Sharing stories
- Taking walks or just getting the patient outside on a nice day
- Playing games
