Catholic Immigration Legal Services is currently seeking volunteers to support our office with the projects listed below. We are searching for a volunteer who is available a minimum of 6 hours per week. Our office is open Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm. Start date 07/01/2024 through December 2024.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct phone intake with prospective clients
• Schedule consultations and appointments for attorneys and Department of Justice accredited representatives
• Work with clients to gather necessary documentation and information for their immigration applications
• Conduct legal research
• Interpretation and translation (seeking fluent Spanish, Dari, Pashto or Somali speakers)
• Admin support including copying, scanning, filing, and record maintenance

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with multi-cultural and/or multi-lingual communities
• Experience working with refugee and immigrant communities
• Fluent in at least one other language than English (seeking fluent Spanish, Dari, Pashto, or Somali speakers)
• Ability to work well with others in a team environment
• Quick learner and ability to work independently on assigned projects
• Understanding of immigration and human rights issues
