ORGANIZATION: L.A. Family Housing



LAFH needs help to set up for their Homeless Connect Day.

IMPACT

Provide resources to individuals experiencing homelessness.

VOLUNTEER ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Volunteers will support LAFH staff with one of the following tasks:

Greeting attendees and guiding them through the various vendors and stations that are available at the event

Handing out in-kind supplies from the LAFH table - could include various items like backpacks, hygiene items, PPE gear, clothing, etc.,

Setting up and/or breaking down the event tables and tents

Engaging with attendees while they wait in line for services,

Any other small tasks needed by staff (e.g. as a runner).

REQUIREMENTS

Be able to lift 20 pounds.

Mission Statement

L.A. Family Housing (LAFH) works to help families transition out of homelessness and poverty through a continuum of housing enriched with supportive services. Founded in 1983, LAFH served more than 2,500 people living in poverty this past year through its multiple housing and supportive service programs, and has served over 100,000 people since its inception. In total LAFH owns and operates 21 properties, including three homeless shelters and 18 permanent rental properties. LAFH provides temporary housing, including the Sydney Irmas Transitional Living Center, for families who require additional time for achieving sufficient independence to secure permanent housing. These transitional living programs offer: * Six Months to Two Years of Transitional Housing * Food Services * Case Management * Mandatory Savings Program * Full Range of On-Site Supportive Services
