QCH with tagline

Thank you so much for your interest in volunteering at Queens Center for Gay Seniors (QCGS) and Queens Community House (QCH). QCH is a multi-site nonprofit organization serving the diverse population of Queens through a broad network of programs for children and youth, adults and families, and older adults. Our mission is to provide individuals and families with the tools to enrich their lives and build healthy, inclusive communities. We are a modern interpretation of the traditional settlement house, bringing to our work innovative leadership and a passion for social and economic justice. We welcome amazing individuals who have diverse backgrounds and experiences, are inspired by our mission and are highly motivated to change lives. QCGS serves the LGBTQ+ community and their allies.

Friendly Visitor for Homebound LGBTQ+ Older Adults
We match volunteers with an isolated older adult to provide companionship and social engagement. Volunteers call or visit the older adult about once a week. This requires a 6-month commitment. Older adult participants live in all corners of Queens. Must be aged 16+ to volunteer.

Mission Statement

Queens Community House provides individuals and families with the tools to enrich their lives and build healthy, inclusive communities.

Description

Queens Community House (QCH) is a multi-site, multi-service settlement house that serves the diverse neighborhoods of Queens. We serve residents of all ages, races, faiths, and ethnicities while supporting the viability of the borough as a whole.

QCH was formed in 1975 (as Forest Hills Community House) to help heal the wounds of a neighborhood conflict. Over four decades, our reach and breadth have grown; today we offer a broad network of comprehensive services at 25 program sites in 11 different neighborhoods in Queens, allowing us to impact individuals, families, and entire communities.
