25 people are interested

This committee is responsible for helping to promote Brown County Humane Society to the community. Members play a crucial role in getting the word out via our website, social media, print and television. We are looking to grow our reach in 2025 to extend throughout the region and beyond, and we need more members to help make this happen.
This committee meets monthly with the remainder of your commitment being completed virtually. Meeting attendance is not mandatory if you are interested in helping, simply let us know and we can see what area of the committee would be the best fit.
Pet Tails and Blog/E-newsletter Writers
- Can all be done from home, no need to attend meetings, but always welcome to join!
- Individuals would commit to writing 2-3 information articles per month (300-500 words each) on a variety of animal welfare topics. A list of suggested topics will be provided, but writers are also welcome to develop their own topics and run past Community Relations Manager for approval.
- Individual would create some kind of recurring fun piece that we would begin featuring in our e-newsletter (meme, did you know, trivia or other catchy theme). This would need to be created twice monthly.
Social Media Help
- Prefer that individuals (especially coordinators) attend monthly meetings to stay connected and update on progress and review stats. Participation can be virtual via Zoom or phone.
- Content Collectors: onsite helpers visit shelter on their own schedule (preferably afternoons between Noon and 5pm) to collect content for social media: photos, videos, etc. Will need to work with Content Creators to ensure proper content is being collected.
- Comes into the shelter at least once every other week to collect information.
- Content Creators: virtual opportunity taking supplied content and crafting social media posts (including text and photos) as well as videos and reels. Would upload created materials to Google Drive for coordinators to post on appropriate platforms.
- Social Media Coordinators: virtual opportunity working with content creators to ensure a variety of postings are being created to feed each social media platform.
- Instagram - take supplied posts and videos from content creators and post on Instagram a minimum of 4 times a week.
- Facebook - take supplied posts and videos from content creators and post on Facebook a minimum of once daily.

Mission Statement
The mission of the Brown County Humane Society is to be a community resource dedicated to promoting the welfare of all animals in our county. We provide temporary shelter to pets in need and promote adoption of homeless pets into loving, permanent homes. We advocate respect for animals through public education concerning responsible pet ownership. We support and promote spaying and neutering to ultimately eliminate pet overpopulation in our community.
Description
The Brown County Humane Society is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to providing for the health and well-being of the animals of Brown County. We offer a number of services to promote animal health and education about their care.
BCHS operates an open-admission shelter for cats and dogs from Brown County. We are very proud to have an outstanding annual save rate of 95% or more since 2010. No animals in our care are euthanized unless they are deemed too dangerous to be in the community or are too ill and suffering from an illness that can't be treated. All adoptable animals stay with us until a home can be found.
BCHS also provides community programs such as low-cost spay/neuter services, annual rabies clinics, temporary pet food assistance for families in need, shelters for outdoor pets, trap-neuter-return for feral cat colonies, and educational programs.
