Human Resources Intern (Onboarding)

EAC Network, a not-for-profit social service agency that empowers, assists, and cares for a over 65,000 people in need through 100 programs across Long Island and NYC, seeks an HR Intern to work part time for the Human Resources Department.

The Intern-HR position is an unpaid opportunity The position work schedule is flexible at 20 hours per week. The hours of operation are Monday-Friday 9:00AM-5:00PM and the office is located in Garden City, NY. The role reports to the HR Director of Talent Management.

Primary Purpose of Job:

The goal of the internship is for the intern to be engaged in learning & understanding the functions of HR, Onboarding and Recruitment within the Human Resources Department.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Assist with pre-hire onboarding process:
  2. Assist with conducting pre-employment checks.
  3. Gather candidate paperwork and e-filing into digital employee files.
  4. Prepare new hire orientation packets.
  5. Prepare onboarding kits (stationary, t-shirts, company swag, company’s ID)
  6. Assisting Sr. Recruiter during new hire orientation.
  7. Coordinate New Hire Training Plan completion.
  8. Assist in processing I-9 and E-verification documents.
  9. Provide assistance to the recruitment team in the following:
  10. Creating recruitment flyers.
  11. Scheduling of screening appointments.
  12. Assist in other areas of HR department with clerical workload as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:

  1. Some knowledge of computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, Microsoft Office applications, calendar, and email and/or database software necessary to perform work assignments a big plus.
  2. Must have pleasant phone manner and good interpersonal skills.
  3. Excellent organizational skills.
  4. Able to conduct self in a professional manner.
