Please visit the new page to apply.
Buffalo National River is recruiting volunteer campground hosts for the 2024 campground season. As America’s first National River, Buffalo National River encompasses over 93,000 acres and over 130 river miles of stunning free-flowing waterway that brings over a million visitors each year. Our campground hosts serve a vital role in making camping along the Buffalo River possible.
Hosts at Buffalo National River are often thought of as the "eyes and ears" of campgrounds. They provide supervisors and rangers with information regarding campground facilities, visitor use, wildlife sightings, and safety concerns, but do not take direct action involving law enforcement situations. Hosts may provide upkeep of campgrounds, assist with the selection of campsites, and camp registration and fee payment. They do not accept or handle recreational fee transactions.
Most campgrounds have full recreational vehicle hookups for hosts, but a few are more limited in utility services. Campground hosts live in designated sites within the campgrounds and are subject to visits and requests for assistance at all hours of the day. Hosts may work in all kinds of weather. Buffalo River has dependable radio coverage, but spotty-at-best cell service. Due to training requirements, most campground host positions require a commitment of approximately six weeks.
