Are you a medical student looking for a great patient experience? This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in becoming a doctor or nurse. You will have great exposure to the career you have chosen. Please note that this position doesn't provide hands on experience with patients. It does allow you to learn bedside manner, see the dying process and gives you exposure to the medical field.
To become a hospice volunteer at Sutter Hospice, Concord, the greatest gift one can offer is their time, caring nature and willingness to be present. Training and ongoing support are provided to all volunteers, so experience is not required. Volunteers are trained to enhance the overall goal of meeting the physical, emotional, spiritual and practical needs of hospice patients and their families.
It's a great opportunity to serve while learning new skills and enhancing existing ones. Volunteers may stay with the patient to give the caregiver some time away or time to rest and they can be a caring companion and compassionate listener to both patients and families.

Description
To become a hospice volunteer at Sutter Care at Home the greatest gift you can offer is your time, your caring nature, and your willingness to listen. Volunteers are trained to enhance the overall goal of meeting the physical, emotional, spiritual and practical needs of hospice patients and their families.
Volunteers may stay with the patient to give the caregiver some time away or time to rest and they can be a caring companion and compassionate listener to both patients and families. While volunteers cannot provide clinical or personal care, they may be able to assist with routine tasks and errands.
Requirements: Volunteers receive 24 hours of training, health clearance and a background check, and attend monthly educational meetings. They must work closely with Volunteer Program Coordinator as members of the hospice team.
