Do you have a passion for supporting people at their time of great need?

We are seeking a small, select group of volunteers to assist our Bereavement Coordinator in meeting the needs of people who have either experienced a recent loss or are anticipating a death. We have a few different roles:

  1. For those who are comfortable making calls, help is requested in contacting or attempting to contact bereaved individuals. Volunteers making calls will receive additional instructions from the Bereavement Coordinator to feel more comfortable on the phone and assessing needs. Bereavement calls can be made remotely after in-office orientation and a supervisory period.
  2. The monthly mailing of Journeys is an ongoing need. This must be completed in the office during business hours but you're welcome to put on a podcast or music and complete at your own pace.
  3. Auditing. This is a data-driven role that is for a person who is detail oriented and comfortable with spreadsheets and documentation. While auditing may seem less impactful than other roles, this ensures that all bereaved are receiving the services they need in a timely manner.

There is no specific background or education necessary to provide grief support. This role would be ideal for someone looking to build pastoral or social work skills. This role would also be beneficial to someone looking for workplace re-entry experience or administrative resume building.

Submitting an inquiry about the Grief Support team does not obligate you to volunteer! It's a free conversation starter for us to learn about how your skills and talents can assist people who are grieving.

Please reach out. We would love to speak with you.
