St. Mark's Education Program based in Dorchester, MA is searching for volunteers to lead weekly English conversation groups remotely through Zoom! It is a low-time-commitment volunteer opportunity with each conversation group lasting 1.5 hours once a week. We just ask that volunteers commit at least 6 months to this volunteer position! Our current conversation group times are listed below:

Monday 6:30-8pm
Tuesday 10:30am-12pm
Tuesday 6:30-8pm
Wednesday 3:30-5pm
Wednesday 6:30-8pm
Thursday 6:30-8pm

NOTE: all conversation group times are in Eastern Standard Time

Through improving English abilities and becoming citizens, our adult students can advocate for themselves and their families, gain better employment, further their educations, participate in the U.S. political process and public life, and negotiate their interactions with immigration, health care, schools, and other U.S. institutions. 

Description

The St. Mark Community Education Program is both an ESOL program and a Citizenship program for adult immigrants and refugees. The ESOL program offers 4 classes at 4 levels, taught evenings to accommodate the schedules of working adults. The Citizenship program prepares applicants for all parts of the citizenship interview and provides supportive resources for those who would like to apply.
