Natchez Trace Parkway is seeking active, dedicated, and enthusiastic volunteers to assist with visitor services! The Natchez Trace Parkway preserves a scenic journey through three states. Showcasing historical sites, beautiful landscapes, and rich cultural heritage spanning over 444 miles. Each year, the Natchez Trace Parkway attracts millions of visitors eager to explore its natural beauty and historical significance. Volunteers play a vital role in enhancing the visitor experience by providing information on the park and surrounding communities along the parkway. Join us in sharing the wonders of Natchez Trace Parkway and helping visitors make the most of their journey!


Location: Parkway Visitor Center in Tupelo, Mississippi. Milepost 266 on the Natchez Trace Parkway


Goal/Outcome of Position:

Provide orientation and information on park resources, safety, and trip planning to visitors in a positive professional manner while representing the National Park Service.

Help visitors make personal connections to park resources and values to inspire stewardship and enjoyment. Staff the visitor center desk, operate a cash register, rove the parkway pullouts and trails, and more.


Uniform: Required to wear volunteer uniform: shirts/hat/jacket/s provided by park; pants, close toed shoes, and belt provided by volunteer.


On-site RV pad with hook-ups (water, sewer, electric) is available. A minimum of 32 hours per week (24 hours per person for a couple) is required for 3 months. A minimum of 3 months is required but opportunities may be available for up to 6 months. Couples wishing to apply should complete an application for each person.


Local volunteers: A commitment of a minimum of two days a month is required.
