Learn about more than 50 volunteer opportunities in a one hour overview at the Forest Preserve Headquarters Building in Wheaton.

Pitch In & Volunteer!

Join us on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 6:30-7:30pm and in one hour you'll learn about all 11 volunteer programs we have available at the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County. One time opportunities to short and long term volunteer positions will be discussed. There is something for everyone! This Volunteer Information Session takes place at the District Headquarters Building in Wheaton 3 S 580 Naperville Rd (Naperville Road between Rte 56/Butterfield & Warrenville Roads)

Interested in caring for injured and orphaned wildlife? Willowbrook Wildlife Center might be your perfect fit!

Interested in Horses? Danada Equestrian Center offers year-long opportunities to assist satff with horse care.

Interested in farm life in the 1890's? Kline Creek Farm has volunteer opportunities in agriculture, domestic arts, gardening, interpretation and more!

Like GOLF? The Golf Preserve Program at Oak Meadows Golf Preserve in Addison is looking for volunteers to assist with establishing and maintaining turf at the new golf preserve.

Interested in nature and conservation? Fullersburg Woods, Natural Resource Management or Volunteer Ranger Program might be right for you!

Trail Patrol offers you the chance to patrol on foot or on bike providing assistance and information to preserve visitors.

Special Services volunteers assist with office projects and special events throughout DuPage County.

DOGEES- Do you enjoy taking your dog to the Forest Preserve Dog Parks? We have volunteer opportunities available to make this activity enjoyable for your furry friends and their owners.

Many other interesting volunteer opportunities are available at Mayslake Peabody Estate and newly acquired St James Farm. Be a greeter, tour guide, researcher, garden volunteer and more!

Mission Statement

The mission of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County is to acquire and hold lands containing forests, prairies, wetlands, and associated plant communities on lands capable of being restored to such natural conditions for the purpose of protecting and preserving the flora, fauna, and scenic beauty for the education, pleasure, and recreation of it citizens. The purpose of the Volunteer Services Program is to engage volunteers who are willing to donate their time, talents, and resources to support the programs and staff in carrying out the mission, purpose, and guiding principles of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County and the volunteer programs.

Description

We offer 11 unique Volunteer Programs.

  • Danada Equestrian Center-Wheaton, assist staff with daily horse care
  • Fullersburg Woods-Oak Brook, help children & visitors discover nature
  • Kline Creek Farm-West Chicago, assist in running an 1890's farm & introducing visitors to this era
  • Mayslake-Oak Brook-assist in gardening, tours, office & special events
  • Natural Resources-Countywide, assist at workdays w/ seed collection, brush cutting, planting. Be a Monitor for populations.
  • Special Services-Countywide, assist with office projects & Special events, pick up trash as part of the Clean-up Crew
  • St James Farm -Warrenville, assist in the garden, as tour guides & special events
  • Trail Watch- Countywide,patrol trails on foot & bicycle, submit reports on trail issues & visitor assistance
  • Visitor Engagement-Countywide,assist the staff with educational programs in schools, programs & events
  • Volunteer Ranger-Countywide,assist with fishing, archery, kayaking, trail trimming, cleanup & special events
  • Willowbrook-Glen Ellyn, assist in care & rehabilitation of native injured & orphaned animals
