Mission Statement and Summary of Volunteer Role

Ethos Education Group (Ethos) is a non-profit organization that delivers a character development program designed to improve a student's educational experience by redefining success through an understanding of identity and self-value.

As an Ethos Volunteer Mentor (Leader), you will work with NFL Hall of Famer Tim Brown of the Oakland Raiders, future Hall of Famer Everson Walls of the Dallas Cowboys, and a team of other volunteers to lead the Ethos Education curriculum with students on-site in classrooms within the Frisco/Dallas area on weekdays at scheduled school-hour times. You will also support the student mentorship program.

This volunteer role includes training to prepare you to lead a 8-week series of in-class workshops during the upcoming fall Ethos mentoring program. You will spend an average of 35-55 minutes per week in-person, in a classroom setting, 20-30 minutes per week preparing for class sessions, and 30-55 minutes per week collaborating during the organization-wide meeting.

Qualities to be Successful in Role

  • Engaged - Makes an impactful connection with the students and invests in teamwork and communication with the campus liaisons; program success is directly related to active and committed students.
  • Committed - Availability during specified schedule for the entire length of Ethos semester on campus. Leader is committed to holding themselves accountable to their role and the Ethos definition and expectations of excellence.
  • Motivated - The leader’s "why" aligns with the mission and vision of Ethos.
  • Decision-Making Skills - Must be able to make independent decisions daily and address the best way to handle specific tasks of immediate importance; can prioritize and meet crucial deadlines.
  • Time Management Skills - A leader must possess excellent time management skills, the ability to prioritize tasks, and must be punctual with assignments and overall tasks
  • Organizational Skills - Ability to keep themselves and others organized and prioritize the most critical tasks.
  • Communication and Collaboration - Must be a strong written and oral communicator and collaborate with other Leaders, Senior Leaders, Administrators, Management, Students, Campus Liaisons, and Parents.
  • Technical Skills - Become proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, and the Ethos Village platform.

Expectations & Responsibilities:

The Ethos Leader must be available and committed to their duty of delivering the Ethos pedagogy through impactful connection with and mentorship of our students. Overall, the Ethos Leader will be expected to perform a variety of tasks including but not limited to:

  • One campus assignment for in-class instruction per semester
  • Attend weekly organization meetings
  • Navigate and manage responsibilities on the Ethos Village Platform, including connecting with students, Campus Liaisons, and students’ parents
  • Admin duties for the assigned campus that includes roster management for students, student attendance from each class session, record notes from each class session, and weekly communication and planning with Campus Liaisons
  • Reimbursement for classroom expenses

Job Type: Part-time, temporary.

Schedule: Specific scheduled times (to be determined) that will occur during standard school hours.
