Mission Statement

Eat for the Earth makes it easier for people to eat more plants and less animal products to sustain all life on Earth.

Description

Eat for the Earth uses volunteers for a variety of activities and functions. We are happy to provide training, supervision, leads, and other supports to volunteers. Here is a sample of volunteer opportunities:

Event Help: We use volunteers at community festivals and similar activities where we have a booth. Volunteers help with booth set up, staffing the booth, handing out tasty food samples, talking with festival-goers about the benefits of plant-based and plant-strong diets, and cleaning up. We also use volunteers at other types of events, for instance to help with potlucks, culinary classes, informational presentations, and online events.

Food Preparation Help: We use volunteers in advance of events to make delicious, healthy, environmentally-sustainable food samples and meals.

Help with Biometric Testing: We use volunteer healthcare providers to administer biometric tests (lipid panel, glucose, blood pressure) onsite for our diet intervention programs. Tests are administered at the start and end of each round so participants can see their progress and we can track data. We also use lay volunteers at these times to check participants' weight and height and calculate BMI.

Advocacy: We use volunteers in our various advocacy campaigns to bring about systems change. For example, people can volunteer for our school food campaign to talk with school district food personnel, encouraging them to include more plant-based options in school meals.

Photography and Videography: We use volunteers to take photos and video of our events and to create content we can use with these assets.

Social Media: We could really use more volunteer help with our presence on social media, for example by creating and posting content, building our following, generating engagement in our groups, etc.

Graphic Design: We use volunteers to help create educational and other content.

Website: We would love someone with knowledge about our mission and our focus areas (primarily the health and environmental impacts of our dietary choices) to create more content for our website. We can also use help updating the website.

Community Development and Leadership: We use volunteers to engage our community, organize community-building events, take a lead on projects of their interest, etc. For example, we can use additional organizers in our Meetup group and our Facebook groups. We have had people take a lead on major projects such as a restaurant campaign or an educational video series. If you have an idea that fits our mission, we would love to work with you!

Grant Research and Writing: We can use support with grant research and writing.
