Interesting helping to protect our ocean? Passionate about providing education resources to inspire people? Give back to your community by volunteering for a fun, engaging fundraising event to raise monies to help support an international film festival dedicated to providing education resources to protect our ocean.

The International Ocean Film Foundation is seeking volunteers to assist with soliciting silent and live auction donations for it' upcoming fundraising benefit in March 2025 at the Golden Gate Club in San Francisco. Our Benefit Committee is a dedicated group of volunteers who are collecting items for our auction. We will provide you with a fundraising toolkit to help make your asks easier; a target list of ocean inspired companies, suggested donation requests, solicitation letter and Donation Authorization Form.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Email target companies requesting donations
  • Track email correspondence on a regular basis, answering questions and following-up on inquiries
  • Participate in Benefit Committee meetings as scheduled (in-person or via Zoom) and maintain contact with Benefit Chair
  • Day-of event participation as volunteer
  • Participate in the reward challenge for most items procured and/or most expensive items procured


Experience:

  • Education: College graduate or above
  • Fun, outgoing personality with experience soliciting donations
  • Familiarity with non-profit fundraising events such as benefits/galas
  • Access to email and excellent communication skills in English

    ABOUT THE INTERNATIONAL OCEAN FILM FOUNDATION

Launched in 2004, the International Ocean Film Foundation (IOFF) is the premiere goal platform for ocean literacy and education through independent film. The IOFF is a year-round ocean conservation organization, with a flagship four-day film festival held annually in April and online The event features more than 50 independent films from around the world, visiting filmmakers, special guests, panel discussions and opportunities to engage with Ocean Hero Community Partners throughout the weekend. In addition, the IOFF hosts special screenings around the world throughout the year through our Traveling Program. The film festival also strives to engage the next generation of ocean conservationists by offering a Free Student Education Program and an International Student Film Competition for middle school and high schools students. At IOFF, we are united by a passion to protect our oceans, and we believe that the power of film is one of the best ways to bring people together and create change.

Description

The International Ocean Film Festival (IOFF), is the first and largest film festival focused on the ocean in the world.

As a year-round ocean conservation organization the IOFF produces a multipole day in person film and lecture event that promotes awareness around the health of our oceans, and call to actions to protect it. Film programs include award winning independent films of all genres, on stage discussions with filmmakers and content experts, creating a unique public forum on the environmental, social, and cultural importance of the ocean's ecosystems, habitats and its resources. The IOFF has five main education initiatives to fulfill its mission:

  • Annual Ocean Film Festival

IOFF will be celebrating it's 22nd Annual Int'l Ocean Film Festival on April 11-13, 2025 at Cowell Theater at Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture in San Francisco, CA. With an expected attendance of 3,000 people, the IOFF serves as a beacon of hope and conversation for ocean lovers of all ages.
