NoSilence NoViolence is a volunteer run non-profit supporting survivors of domestic violence. Many of our survivors leave abusive situations with only what they can carry.Adopt-A-Family is a holiday tradition designed to assist children of survivors who otherwise wouldn't have the resources to celebrate the holidays. This program provides a wonderful holiday experience for families at a critical time in their lives.Families who are adopted are provided with food, clothing, and gifts from their sponsors.
We are in need of an Adopt-a-Family volunteer coordinator who can manage the holiday program smoothly from start through to completion.
The Adopt-a-Family Volunteer would provide:
- Assist in finding families, individuals or business who want to sponsor a family over the holidays
- Track who is assigned to which families
- Gather lists from families and determine if host family is purchasing or volunteer is purchasing
- Shop for items on a families list and deliver to families so they can wrap themselves
- Coordinate delivery and pick up items from host people who have purchased but haven't wrapped
- Wrap gifts that need wrapping and deliver or coordinate pick up from families
- inputting of volunteer hours for excel spreadsheet
- Maintain record of hours volunteered and survivors supported
Skills required;
- excellent communication skills and organization skills
- Sensitivity to survivors and domestic violence
- Loves to shop and look for deals
