Gentiva hospice is currently recruiting licensed massage therapist volunteers to provide therapeutic massage to our interested hospice patients. Hospice patients benefit greatly from gentle, compassionate touch and often report pain relief, anxiety and stress reduction, improved sleep, and enhanced quality of life. Massage therapy provides to patients relief, relaxation and even a type of healing that conventional medical treatments cannot offer.
Our massage therapists volunteer in patients' residences, in assisted living and memory care facilities, and in nursing homes. Requirements for this role include having a current Illinois massage therapist license, possessing a level of comfort around individuals who are terminally ill, and having the ability to build trust and open communication with patients. In turn, you will reap the benefits of providing an invaluable holistic approach to health by addressing an individual's emotional and physical well-being.
Brief yet comprehensive training about the history and benefits of hospice is provided by our Volunteer Coordinator. Additionally, ongoing support is always available. If you are interested in volunteering as a massage therapist for hospice patients please contact us in the instructions that follow.
