Do you have a talent and passion for playing an instrument or singing? Are you looking for ways to give back to your community? Do you want to create special memories for others?

Then we may be a match made in heaven.

We are Suncrest Hospice. We are looking for musicians to share their talents with our hospice patients and their families. By bringing your talents and gifts to the Suncrest team, you can help meet our patient’s emotional and spiritual needs!

The philosophy of hospice care is to provide comfort and the highest quality of life that one can achieve at the end of life. Through an interdisciplinary team including a nurse, nurse assistant, social worker, chaplain, and volunteer, we help the patient and family walk through their journey.

Volunteers are essential members of the patient’s hospice care team. Volunteers are trained to listen, care, and provide companionship for our patients during this important time in their lives. Through careful screening and orientation, our volunteers understand the hospice philosophy to provide as much comfort and quality of life to our patients as possible. All of our volunteers are trained to provide companionship, but we are especially looking for volunteers who are willing to share their love and talent for music with our patients.

In the Chicagoland Area, Suncrest Hospice serves families in Cook, DuPage, Kane, & Lake counties and serves patients in long-term care facilities and in their own homes.

We are especially looking for volunteers willing to serve patients and families in and around St. Charles

All Suncrest Hospice volunteers must be 18 or older and are required to complete a background check, be fingerprinted, and complete a TB test at no charge to you.

Description

Your Family is Our Family

The team at Suncrest treats every patient, whether they’re receiving home care or hospice care, as they would a member of their own family, with respect, dignity, and compassion. We believe our role as hospice clinicians is not only about improving the quality of life for the patient, but also for the patient’s caregivers and loved ones, with the singular goal of enhancing the lives of those we serve.

Suncrest Volunteer Program

Volunteers are essential members of the patient’s hospice care team. Volunteers are trained to listen, care, and provide companionship for our patients during this important time in their lives. Through careful screening and orientation, our volunteers understand the hospice philosophy to provide as much comfort and quality of life to our patients as possible. They participate on the team visits which may include reading to patients, doing crafts, taking them outside in their wheelchair, accompanying them to a meal, writing letters, and sometimes simply by sitting quietly next to a patient’s bed. All of our volunteers are trained to provide companionship, and some of them bring extra areas of skill with them, such as massage, music, and energy work. A volunteer may also choose to help out with administrative tasks in the office.
