Description:
My Seniors Keeper Foundation, Inc. (MSK) is seeking a dedicated individual with an interest in carpentry to join our team as a Carpenter's Assistant Volunteer. This is a unique opportunity to work alongside a skilled carpenter, contributing to projects that enhance the lives of seniors in our community.

Responsibilities:

Assist the carpenter in various woodworking projects.
Learn and apply basic carpentry skills under the guidance of the experienced carpenter.
Support the planning and execution of carpentry tasks to improve living spaces for seniors.
Collaborate with the MSK team to ensure the successful completion of projects.

Qualifications:

Enthusiasm for carpentry and a willingness to learn.
Basic understanding of hand tools and carpentry principles (training will be provided).
Physical ability to assist with lifting and carrying materials.
Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Time Commitment:
Flexible hours, with a minimum commitment of [X hours/week or month]. Schedule to be coordinated with the carpenter and MSK team.

Location:
MSK's Applied Research Garden (adjacent to 5314 Dix Street NE Washington, DC 20019)

As a community based organization, MSK serves residents and visitors of inequitable income neighborhoods in Ward 7 through a holistic and innovative approach to sustainability, education, community engagement, and social advocacy. MSK is committed to resisting and interrupting systems of oppression that marginalizes individuals and communities based on social identities.


Guided by a vision of making contributions towards a future where residents thrive in harmony with nature and in peace with one another. Through MSK’s advocacy efforts, numerous volunteers have responded to our call to action resulting in hundreds of hours invested into the advancement of underserved neighborhoods. The magnitude of such actions continues to evolve by specializing in supporting DC's advancements in sustainability at the local level through environmental projects, community action programs, and eco enterprises.


MSK is led by a diverse and talented Board of Directors that has a collective vision of providing culturally competent community services to positively impact the lives of socially disadvantaged District residents across multiple generations. MSK coordinates partnerships and collaborations that provide programs and services to District residents and Ward 7 families.
