Position Description:

The Comic Illustrator will help with creating cartoons/graphics for NHEG comics, magazines or any other publication. He/She can use any software of their choosing (E.G: Photoshop, Illustrator, Procreate, etc.) to create illustrations from beginning to end or to add the finishing touches to the sketch of another team member (I.E: Inking and/or coloring) while adapting to a predetermined art style . These illustrations will be mostly for the comic book, which will cover serious issues faced by society. Using Kelly Bear press articles as our story line.

Background:

Prior experience with inking cartoons, imagery and graphic design is a must.

Major Duties*:

  • Prepare sketches of characters or model drawings
  • Help designing the layout and/or sketching the comic book pages
  • Ink character or page sketches as needed (line art)
  • Coloring inked pages or character sketches.
  • Attend online or in-person meetings
  • Work as a team to accomplish goals
  • Create advertisements or graphics for NHEG
  • Edit Images and Advertisements

* Some activities may be assigned more than others depending on the needs of the moment and/or the individual skill set of the Comic Illustrator

Your performance will be evaluated on the punctuality and efficiency of your tasks. Any concerns will be discussed with the appropriate recommendations made. In addition, your evaluation will be used as a determination of your continuing status and to highlight any areas that need improvement.

Copyright

If you are a comic illustrator for us, you also must only submit original works that are 100% yours.

  • Dress Code

If working in person at NHEG home office you will dress appropriately and professionally for this position.

  • Schedule

Your hours will be worked out with NHEG and the Director of Virtual Development.

  • Supplies (Soft/Hard)

Whenever possible, NHEG seeks out ways to provide necessary software. All software is for NHEG purposes only. Any special needs should be brought to the attention of NHEG staff.



  • Conflicts

If you are experiencing difficulties during, or as a result of your assignment, please contact NHEG to work out a solution. Comic Illustrators are hired as temporary volunteers on an as-needed basis and are not considered permanent employees of the New Heights Educational Group Inc. Resource and Literacy Center. However, you are a valued member of our team, and we want you to have a positive experience while you are with us.

  • Behavior

Conduct yourself in a professional manner and be aware of your communication skills, language, and behavior. All students and staff need to be treated with respect and dignity. Failure to do so will impact your status as a volunteer.
