ORGANIZATION: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers


Gatehouse duties are mostly indoors, and cleaning sites and other duties mostly takes place outdoors and may require extended periods during adverse conditions such as heat, cold, and rain. Volunteers are expected to have the ability to work independently but can work with other volunteers and USACE staff.


This is a two-person job. NO handling of money and NO restroom cleaning .

If willing to commit to a full season of 23 weeks (to include both "bookend" holidays), volunteer will be eligible for round-trip long-distance mileage i.e. ($0.655/mile in 2023, TBA for 2024), if its 100 miles or more. However, not to exceed an accumulative total of $1000 for the round trip, between current residence and duty station upon completion of your service, to be paid in full after you have returned home .

If willing to commit to half a season (12 weeks) to include April 20 th - July 13 th week or July 14 th - Sept. 30 th , volunteer will be eligible for a one-way trip long-distance mileage i.e. (0.655/mile in 2023, TBA for 2024), if its 100 miles or more. However, not to exceed an accumulative total of $500 for a one-way trip, between current residence and duty station upon completion of your service, to be paid in full after you have returned home. We will work with folks who have a shorter time frame in mind they just won’t qualify for the long-distance reimbursement.
