Nobody likes to be hangry, we get it. This is why this position is so important. You will assist with food and refreshments being on time and in place. Make sure that the artists are refreshed and ready to perform. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Contact person between JPI and the food company vendor.
- Pick up or receive and check food and beverages are received as ordered.
- Work with your teammate to set up food and beverages for the audience, musicians and staff members in their respective places.
- Make sure food and drinks are handled according to the FDI and Department of Sanitation regulations.
- Make sure to administer food and drinks appropriately to avoid shortage.
- Please be hygienic while on work time and while handling food and drinks.
- Use the proper utensils provided by JPI.
- Keep space clean and in order during the event.
- Embody a welcoming attitude while on the job, and practice a calm manner when
- Respond to/request support to Arlene Rodriguez, Program Manager.

Description
Jazz Power Initiative (JPI), a non profit, 501 (c) (3) organization, serves over 3100 New Yorkers and visitors annually - students, teachers, artists, seniors and general audiences, ages 8-80+, to promote youth development, and build more creative and inclusive communities through jazz music, theater and dance education and performance.
Led by highly experienced teaching artists who are award-winning jazz, theater and dance professionals, JPI offers multidisciplinary training, scholarships and performance opportunities to New York City youth, ages 8-19, from every economic and social milieu through our "open-door" policy, with extended outreach to students in under-served New York City public schools in Upper Manhattan. We currently engage over 500 students and their teachers annually, providing after-school instruction mainly in Harlem, Washington Heights and Inwood (where our offices are located) and the Bronx.
Our programs include after-school youth open studios and workshops, and in-school assemblies and residencies; our monthly Intergenerational Jazz Power Jam at the National Jazz Museum in Harlem and Alianza Dominicana Cultural Center; local community senior center workshops, and our annual summer institute at Lehman College (CUNY) for teaching artists and educators.
