ORGANIZATION: Animal Humane Society

Animal Humane Society

Do you love animals? At Animal Humane Society, our mission is to engage the hearts, hands, and minds of the community to help animals. Our Veterinary Centers work to reduce animal homelessness by providing high quality, low cost veterinary services for pets and people in the community.

Vet Center Facility Care Volunteers support the Veterinary Center by ensuring kennels and cages are clean, and set up for animals. This includes laundry, dishes, and common areas are welcoming and tidy. You will also assist with sterilizing surgical equipment, filling syringes for vaccines, and observing animals after surgery while they recover from anesthetic. Volunteers are integral in fulfilling Animal Humane Society’s mission by engaging with the community and providing access to affordable veterinary care for clients.

We have shifts Monday through Saturday for 2-3 hours between 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. We appreciate if you can donate your time for a minimum of two shifts a month.

Description

The Animal Humane Society is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to the welfare of all animals. The Society seeks to maintain and develop programs and facilities which promote and expand the human/animal bond. Incorporated in 1891 as the Minneapolis Humane Society, the organization was known as the Animal Rescue League for many years. In 1965 the name was changed to the Animal Humane Society of Hennepin County. In 1999, the name was officially changed to Animal Humane Society, in part to clarify the fact that the organization is not part of the county government and is not supported by tax dollars.
