The Animal Pad all-breed dog rescue is so pleased to announce that the first couple of years since launching our Youth Education program have been a HUGE success! Because of this, we want to continue building this program and keep inspiring the future of rescue - meaning that we are looking for a few more Youth Program Coordinators to make that dream a reality! Encompassing our summer and school break camps (aka "Camp TAPpy Tails"), TAP's Youth Program is now branching out to include other educational programs like school field trips, high school student service days, and birthday parties.

Our Youth Program Lead is looking for additional *adult* volunteers to assist her with running and facilitating these camps, along with our rescue's other educational programs (HS student service days, field trips, birthday parties, our future Youth Volunteer Program, etc.). The camps themselves are very infrequent as they only take place during school breaks, and last for max 5 hours each day they're running. Our Youth Program Lead will of course fully train any interested volunteer and provide all materials and curriculum! While previous experience with children is not required, it is highly preferred.

Enter Camp TAPpy Tails - our first ever camp for dog-loving kids ages 7-12 hosted over summer break and other holiday school breaks! Each camp is led by one of TAP's beloved longtime volunteers, who has her masters in educational counseling with 5+ years of school based experience and an additional 5+ years of experience working with children in various other settings. The campers in each session learn all about dogs and the world of rescue, including dog behavior, safety, and the importance of rescuing!
More on camp specifics and general info regarding our Youth Education Program can be found on the education tab of our website: https://theanimalpad.org/education/

*Please note that the TAPpy Tails camps specifically are a paid summer/break camp for the kids, but not a paid position (strictly volunteer).

About The Animal Pad

Location:

4620 Avocado Blvd, La Mesa, CA 91941, US

Mission Statement

The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue based in San Diego, CA that focuses on saving dogs from the streets of Mexico and high kill shelters. We get them the vet care they need, place them in foster homes and then find them loving forever families. Our mission is to form a safe space for dogs experiencing crisis and neglect, and to build a community of compassion through education, rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption. Our community of volunteers and fosters strives to ensure that all dogs get a fighting chance, and believes that no case is too extreme to be helped - meaning our rescue is full of perfectly imperfect dogs who can’t wait to meet you! Being operated solely by volunteers and funded entirely by donations, none of what we do could be possible without our dedicated team!

Description

Here at TAP, we give voice to the voiceless and our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and find them the best homes possible. Founded in 2010, The Animal Pad is volunteer run and funded entirely by donations. We rescue dogs primarily off the streets of Mexico, and provide them full medical care and a loving foster home to heal in before they head to their adoptive home.
