About Against All Odds

Location:

2023 W. Compton Blvd, Compton, CA 90220, US

Mission Statement

The mission of Against All Odds is to engage, educate, and establish a culture of empowerment and unity within the city of Compton . We will accomplish these goals by collaborating with like-minded individuals and community leaders to provide mental health support, fitness education and training, youth engagement, and offering safe locations for youth and community members to access workshops, social gatherings, podcast, and community conversations.

Description

Against All Odds is a newly established 501c3 non-profit that was created by a team of leaders who share the goal of being catalyst of change. This organization was created as a result of an up and coming docuseries that is based on the impact of gangs within the City of Compton. As team members discussed the seeds of gang violence and the demise of the city, they found that gangs and gang violence was a result of several issues that go back generations. Poverty, corrupt government officials and law enforcement, educational deficits, generational gang beefs, lack of support for those impacted by gang violence and much more. The team felt that it would do the city of Compton a dis-service if they were to highlight city issues but not provide the bridge to healing, resources, gang truces, community conversations, support for families impacted by gang violence, youth empowerment, workshops, job and education referrals as well as weekly podcast that are focused on healthy minds, fitness, community issues and more!
