About the Role:
The Operations (OPS) Professional Mentor is both a strategic and hands-on role that provides support to Thaddeus Resource Center. The position is critical in executing employee engagement/people initiatives, providing great employee and volunteer support, and driving Operations functional excellence and process improvement.
The Operations Professional Mentor will maintain a close working relationship with the executives to ensure strategies and goals align with the overall business. The Operations Professional Mentor will supervise Operations Department interns to communicate, perform, and collaborate with professionals, clients, and outsourced entities.
Responsibilities:
- Directly supervise 5 to 10 interns under the Operations department
- Oversee and assist in various Operations processes, including but not limited to: conducting research, data analysis, identifying discrepancies among the organization, etc.
- Develop and manage general training and opportunities for development for Thaddeus staff
- Manage engagement, development, and performance of part-time, intern, and volunteer staff
- Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations for all staff
- Administer support and guidance to the executive director, fellow management, and other staff when complex and sensitive questions/issues arise
- Develop and facilitate workshops for Operations/Business Administration/Non-Profit interns to learn and grow in the field
- Handle discipline and termination of employees in accordance with Thaddeus’ policies and procedures
- Collaborate with other departments and committees within Thaddeus while staying up-
to-date on any progress made on strategic goals
- Provide help to Operations interns in collecting data about different programs and create reports to help the Operations team track organizational goals
- Perform other assigned duties, as needed
Qualifications:
Required:
- Education: Bachelor’s in Business Administration, Operations, or Human Resources
- Previous management experience in a similar role or environment
- At least 1-2 years of experience in Business Administration, Operations Management, etc.
- Ability to understand non-profit business goals and recommend new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in business objectives, productivity and development of Operations within the non-profit
- Ability to create a vision and goals for the Operations team; inspire and motivate the team to achieve excellence in terms of Thaddeus staff support and core Operations processes
- Strong technical and organizational skills in addition to excellent written and verbal communication skills, in a professional environment
- A high level of integrity, accuracy, dependability, enthusiasm, and confidentiality
- Excellent multi-tasking, time management, interpersonal communication and business writing skills a must
- Creative problem-solving skills and motivated by creating solutions for teams
- Proven leadership, coaching and facilitation skills
- Ability to build and sustain strong partnerships with university representatives, transition to work programs, workforce training programs, etc.
- Ability to work independently with little instructions and a strong attention to details
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Office 365), Canva, and Adobe DC
- Operations Manager/Mentor must have the appropriate technology, internet connection and ability to function in a virtual capacity via Microsoft Teams
Preferred:
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Pursuing or have received a Master’s in Business Administration or Operations Management, or an MBA
- Experience working with non-profits (with Thaddeus, a plus)
- A solid understanding of and connection to Thaddeus’s mission, vision, values and targeted demographic/community
- An understanding of transition to work, GAIN/TSE, and other similar programs

Time Commitment and Working Conditions:
- Must be available for a minimum of 4 hours per week (flexible scheduling)
- Must be available for the following VITRUAL weekly meetings:
- Weekly All Staff Meeting: Tuesdays 9 AM -10 AM PST
- Weekly Operations Department Meeting: Thursdays 2 PM - 3 PM PST
- We can work around your schedule.
- Must be able to commit at least 1 year to this position
