Moores Creek National Battlefield is the site of the first decisive Patriot victory of the American Revolution, as well as the site of the last ever Scottish Highland broadsword charge! Throughout the year, the park offers a variety of programs and events. We are recruiting volunteers to further support us before, during, and after these events.

Duties include, but are not limited, to:

  • Conducting park-wide clean-up of grounds, including picking up trash and debris, removing storm debris, raking leaves, chopping and stacking wood (upon prior approval), organizing buildings and storage rooms, etc.
  • Assisting with special events, including parking cars, transporting visitors and/or supplies (upon prior approval), staffing information tables, providing security for demonstrations, taking pictures for park records during events, and providing support in other needed areas that do not require advanced training (unless the training is provided and documented)
  • Scout groups may assist with the construction of resources, such as campsites, wood storage buildings, and amphitheaters--provided adult supervision is available, and proper training and supervision is provided for the use of tools.

Park Hours: Tuesday-Saturday; 9 am - 5 pm

Some special events may continue past our normal business hours. There is no specific schedule necessary for this position; it is designed to be short-term or drop-in! You would be contacted about volunteering opportunities as they became available.

Weather: Summers can be hot, humid, and buggy (mosquitoes). The Spring and Fall are cool with rainy periods. Winters are generally mild with occasional windy and cold nor’easter storms.

Transportation: Personal transportation (bicycle or motorized vehicle) is required to reach the park and local stores. There is no public transportation in the area.

Other Info: Cell phone service is sparse in this area. Reception within the park can be erratic at times--the extent depending on service provider. Verizon and US Cellular typically continue to work well when outside.
