The Nutrition Program addresses multiple issues faced by older adults, including poor nutrition, food insecurity, chronic disease, and social isolation. The program provides nutritionally balanced meals, screening, education, and counseling to help older adults maintain a healthy nutritional status. People aged 60 or older and their spouses are eligible to receive nutrition services, regardless of income.

The program helps older adults maintain their independence so they can continue to live in their homes and communities. Meals are provided at congregate dining sites or delivered to people’s homes.

Meal Site Assistants are currently needed to serve lunch to seniors at the Buckley Apartments at 14 Bloomingdale Street in Chelsea. Meal Site Assistants are volunteers who work as part of a team to serve meals to seniors at congregate dining sites, including senior centers, senior residences, and other community settings.

Meal Site Assistant duties include checking in guests; setting tables; managing reservations; assisting with food preparation, serving and cleanup; and conversing with guests to provide a warm and friendly atmosphere.
