ORGANIZATION: Mothers Against Drunk Driving

  • 3 people are interested

Victim Impact Panels (VIPs) are 2-hour classes that allow victims/survivors to share their personal stories of bereavement and loss with an audience. These classes are usually attended by offenders mandated by their court or parole office. These classes are also open to the public at no charge. MADD seeks volunteers to oversee and coordinate the established Victim Impact Panels. Coordinators will be responsible for setting up the classroom, handling registration, and overseeing the organizational details of the class. These volunteers play an important part in helping to reduce future victimizations through presenting effective VIPs, which educate participants to the hazards of impaired driving and motivate participants to make responsible decisions about drinking and driving in the future.

Skills/Training Requirements: Background check, completion of MADD orientation, good organizational skills, ability to communicate effectively, non-judgmental related offenses, reliable transportation, and flexible schedule, as panels are held in the evenings, six times per year. Time Commitment: 3-4 hours per month; six-month - one-year commitment.

About Mothers Against Drunk Driving

Location:

5501 W. Kendall St, Boise, ID 83706, US

Mission Statement

Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) is the premiere non profit working to stop drunk driving, help fight drugged driving, support the victims of these violent crimes, and prevent underage drinking.

Description

We've all heard and read about- or even know from our own experience- people who's lives have been dramatically affected by a drunk driver. We wonder why they do it, why they get away with it, and ask when is "somebody" going to do something about a problem so serious that it has the potential of touching the lives of each and every one of us at some point in time.

This is where you come in. You can be that "somebody" who is going to make a difference.
